Empty Stadium With Soccer Game

Last night, I attended the Red Bulls soccer game in the NJ Meadowlands with John and Eric.

Not to my surprise, the attendance was paltry at best with around 6,000 spectators I’m guessing.

It didn’t feel like the most well-played game but it was still entertaining with the home team Red Bulls winning 6-0 with 6, count ’em, 6 second half goals. I’ve never seen or heard of that feat before.

The weather was cooperative and comfortable with overcast skies and temps in the 60s as we watched the Bruce Arena-coached Red Bulls play soccer for the full 90 minutes. Nice to see Bruce get a job after the USA Soccer pink slip.

The crowd was very friendly compared to other games I’ve attended with many families and youth soccer leagues in attendance. And, John and Eric and I could easily hold a conversation without being disturbed by crowd noise or craziness. I would suspect Major League Soccer would not like to hear this, though.
