Jeollado Sushi

Jeollado - East Village Sushi and Sashimi

Hard to say who is the best when it comes to the East Village’s best sushi takeout, but Jeollado put up a good fight tonight. It’s sashimi combination along with a “Carla” roll (ode to Taxi?) was excellent considering all the factors including taste, quality, thickness and price.

I dove into my sashimi by starting with a piece of octopus which was, gratefully, cut very thin. In the past, I’ve found that Jeollado’s sushi or sashimi pieces have been cut too thin. But, in this take-out version, it was cut just right - including the octopus.

The “Carla” roll was a combination of avocado, eel (or do you say ‘unagi’) and shrimp as I recall. Tasty, I must say.

On the side was a cup of miso soup and plenty of soy sauce and napkins.

This is the first sushi or sashimi take-out that I’ve had in the East Village of NYC in quite a while that I had to stop, lay back, rest, and then could restart my devouring. I usually swallow it all in one ‘lean.’

Best of all, the price came out to a little over $21 - Le Miu… eat your heart out. Lots more eats here, maybe not the top most quality but still a good value.

I’ll give Jeollado a 3.5 out of 5 mackerel.
