Mamas Food Shop on East 3rd St.
Have you had any good home cooking lately?
Are you in the East Village of NYC?
Do you like food?
If you answered “yes” to a couple of these questions, then take your butt down to Mama’s Food Shop on East 3rd Street and Avenue B in New York City’s East Village. I’ve found Mama’s to be a great place to get my fix of macaroni and cheese - which from a quality standpoint - can be a difficult thing to find.
The evening’s meal consisted of the “dinner” which meant 1 main course and two sides. My sides were mac & cheese and delicious, honeyed yams.
The main course featured the always reliable meatloaf. I was stuffed in the end in spite of the fact that I got it all as ‘takeout’. When I’ve eaten at Mama’s… it always seems like there’s even more food on the plate. Either way, prepare for a mountain of food.
Mama’s has dining areas as well as a handy bar room where you can imbibe (or quaff) your favorite beverage - which is usually a Sierra Nevada for me. And, don’t forget to ‘bus’ your plates. This is Mama’s after all, and you don’t want to let her down.
Mama’s receives 4 out of 5 tulips in honor of spring from this East Village blog.
