Astor Place, New York City, 5/5/07

Flickr is running a promotion of sorts and challenging its users to take photos today, May 5, 2007, and then post their favorite to a special photo group – 24 hours of Flickr. Chosen photos go in a book or something like that.

I sent my photo. Not sure this is the best one ever but it’s taken today at Astor Place here in the East Village. I like all the lines in it – I took it with my trusty LG phone. In the background, to the right, is one of the most beautiful buidings in the area. VNU now resides there – it’s between Lafayette Street and Broadway, and Astor Place and 9th streets.

Cooper Square Hotel

In addition to snapping the Astor Place photo, I also passed by the ever-growing Cooper Square Hotel today. Man, that baby is getting big. Down Bowery, near the Salvation Army, there is another construction on what is a very small lot. I haven’t been able to determine exactly what’s going on there but, if you know, let me know.

For directions to Astor place, visit the Google Maps Street View.
