Cooper Square Hotel - 12/16/07
Cooper Square Hotel is showing signs of completion as only a few plywood windows remain on the facade of the enormous vibrator.
Did someone forget to order enough windows?
With an opening date of April, the East Village awaits its least welcome new neighbor. In that Cooper Square Hotel has applied for several bar licenses, will a casino be next? Is there an indian tribe in the neighborhood which might like to open its own casino? I’m sure the Peck Moss Group would love to entertain the thought.
As much as it pains me to say, I do like the shape of the new building (I love vibes.) and I look forward to the architectural conversation between it and the new John Mayne-designed Cooper Union building. With the shimmery shapes and curves, the East Village is going a little space age with its architecture - similar to the Epcot Center. Carlos Zapata, Walt Disney. Walt Disney, Carlos Zapata.
Will the Cooper Square Hotel apply for a cryogenic chamber next? Stay tuned.

I couldn’t agree more. when I walk by that building I always vomit in my mouth a little. It is a truly repulsive addition to the neighborhood.
