Cooper Square Hotel - Was April, Now Summer
In case you didn’t read it in the The New York Times last week, Carlos Zapata’s Cooper Square Hotel on The Bowery isn’t going to open until the Summer according to developer Matthew Moss of the Peck Moss Group. The “$100 million” (cue the guy from the New York State Lottery) hotel will include a “small park”.
This is the first I’ve heard of the “small park” which, no doubt, will be open to fellow residents of the East Village with swing sets, a dog run, maybe some street meat and an incense purveyor.
In that the opening appears delayed past the previosly-announced April date (or the EVP exclusive - “February opening“), perhaps the fact that not all the windows are in place is turning into a prob.
The Bowery Hotel, on the other hand, continues to bring in the customers just down the block and is even trying to rent out a floor for $30,000 per month. What a deal.
By the way, it’s still not too late to take our Cooper Square Hotel poll!
