Baked Cupcakes in Red Hook, Brooklyn
Yesterday, the editorial team went road-tripping to Red Hook, Brooklyn – a favored destination for many East Villagers who have been repulsed by the urban sprawl swallowing the E.V. and yearn for a vibrant, creative community that brings back memories of an East Village from bygone days.
An unexpected pleasure in Red Hook is the bakery, Baked, located at 359 Van Brunt between Dikeman and Wolcott Streets. Its deceivingly diminutive cupcakes are certain to add layers to anyone’s inner thigh. No doubt cupcake aficionados would be pleased even if it may be hard to find.
When visiting Baked, choosing among a variety of original flavors is a pleasant challenge. Yesterday’s “winner” had a dark chocolate cake base, creamy mocha topping and an unexpected, sea salt sprinkling on top.
I’ve never salted my cupcake (at least not in public) but this one left my tastebuds mesmerized as the cupcake quickly whizzed by on its way to my stomach.
In video glory, here are selected moments from yesterday’s visit to Baked in Red Hook:
