Windows Close on Morphosis Cooper Union Building
The mysterious windows have been closed on the new Cooper Union building designed by Thom Mayne at Third Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets.
Though more panels have been added, it appears that the “test” is over … for now. Perhaps our EVP exclusive of two weeks ago was too revealing.
Morphosis email to Sciame construction: “Close the windows. People can see you doing stuff.”
When will the windows swing open again? It’s anyone’s guess.
This building has potential as a Wagnerian-type opera performance space where the singers pop out of the windows from time to time.
Or maybe it’s a “Hollywood Squares”-type performance space? Game shows in the East Village… yes.
Paul Lynde for the match!
